Anneliese and Malte planned an amazing destination wedding at Shoshone Point and Thunderbird Lodge at the Grand Canyon. They had a small group of friends and family from all around the world celebrate with them on their big day. Anneliese and Malte live in Washington D.C. but travel to the Grand Canyon as much as they can. They enjoy the amazing hiking, relaxation and beauty. We got the pleasure of traveling around the canyon to all their favorite spots taking their couple photos. Just before sunset we met their guests at Shoshone Point for their ceremony and champagne toast. To finish off the evening, Anneliese, Malte and guests enjoyed a relaxed reception at the Thunderbird lodge. Congratulations to the beautiful couple! ~Kristen
As Arizona wedding photographers, the Grand Canyon is one of the most beautiful and scenic places to get married. Meredith and Miles traveled from New York because they knew the Grand Canyon’s Moran Point would be a perfect spot for their intimate I do’s. This sweet couple invited just their parents to join them on their big day, keeping a secret from the rest of their family and friends until they returned from their honeymoon. After their beautiful ceremony they celebrated with their family at the El Tovar and then backpacked into the canyon to Phantom Ranch for their honeymoon. What an amazing wedding and honeymoon! Meredith was nice enough to share how her and Miles met and some fun stories about their big day!
Tell us about how you met?
Miles and I met at a McDonald’s on the upper east side after a night out with friends. Miles approached my friend and I asking ” hey ladies what’s good here”. He claimed to be a lawyer but my friend and I didn’t believe him telling him we were both lawyers. He then told us that he went to Brooklyn Law School which we replied no we went to Brooklyn Law School. He then started naming professors and we finally were convinced. It turned out that miles and I lived near each other and ended up sharing a cab home to Brooklyn and have been together ever since.
Tell us about your wedding planning and honeymoon:
We had a small wedding at the Grand Canyon with just our parents. No one else knew we were getting married until we got home. It was tough for everyone to keep the secret but thankfully we had only planned the wedding a month prior so everyone was able to hold out. Meredith’s parents and Miles Dad and girlfriend had never met each other prior to the wedding weekend but were like old friends almost immediately.
Our honeymoon was at Phantom Ranch at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. We hiked to the bottom the morning after our wedding and spend two nights at the bottom of the canyon before hiking back up to the rim. We explored Ribbon Falls and Phantom Canyon while we were down there.
What type of things/hobbies/interests do you both have in common?
Hiking, Biking, Swimming , Travel, Pizza , Roast Beef sandwiches at Brennan and Carr in Brooklyn AND mutual dislike of cruises, we were once left behind by the boat in Bermuda
Five years ago, I met this beautiful young lady when she was a bridemaid in her mom’s wedding in Phoenix. When I was asked to do the senior photos, it was one of those moments when you realize that time is fleeting. I got a call from her big sis, Andrea, about doing senior photos. “Love to!” was my response. And then, there was a pause from me. “Wait!” I said, “Kristen’s old enough to graduate high school?” It seemed like yesterday that I met her.
This family seems more like my own as the years roll by. Between all of them, I’ve photographed two weddings, numerous family sessions and now a senior. I’m so honored to have been there for all of them, and look forward to all the milestones to come. In fact, there’s a big family session with all of them next month!
But back to Kristen! Kristen’s graduating next year and this young lady already knows she wants to be a massage therapist. And, knowing her determination and her intellect, I know she’s going to be very successful. We had a great time hanging out with this beautiful girl and her mom, Julie, and loved exploring Kristen’s backyard, the Grand Canyon. Kristen, an accomplished guitarist, even entertained a few guests at El Tovar as we took some photographs on the porch.
We wish you the best Kristen, and know your future will be filled with lots of successes and great accomplishments! Congrats! ~ Melissa
Rebecca and Evan were married at the Grand Canyon National Park on a gorgeous day with Monsoon Clouds building in the distance. Eventally, those clouds caught up with us, just as the couple were exchanging their vows. But, we feel it only added to the wonderful day. When the rain really started to come down, we just moved to the overhang to finish the ceremony, and it was perfect. Rebecca and Evan just laughed and embraced the rain; we loved that about them. Glamorous Occasions built a beautiful chupah which complimented the couples jewish heritage and the beautiful scenery and the indoor decor was elegant and classic. We were so happy to have been there for you Rebecca and Evan! Congratulations! ~ Melissa

Jennifer and Nishav traveled from Little Rock, Arkansas to say i do at the spectacular Grand Canyon National Park. They both took their first look at the gorgeous canyon when we all arrived for their intimate elopement ceremony . Jennifer and Nishav were in awe of the beauty and serenity of the location. Arizona Ministers performed a special ceremony that focused on the two of them and their love. Glamorous Occasions did an amazing job at coordinating this perfect spot and created the elegant red rose bouquet and boutineer.
