When I photographed Julianne and Andrew last summer for their engagement session in Oak Creek, they told me about planning their wedding full of Scottish details.  I love being a Sedona wedding photographer, but I’ve never had the honor of photographing a Scottish wedding!  Andrew’s family is from Scotland and brought with them rich cultural heritage and customs. I loved seeing all the traditions unfold during the wedding.  Andrew’s family presents the Arizona Highland Celtic Festival here in Flagstaff every year!  And it goes without saying…those Kilts were fantastic! Julie was breathtaking in her lace gown and her Badgley Mischka shoes were what so many women dream of :).  The couple chose to have their wedding at the panoramic Sky Ranch Lodge over looking the red rocks of Sedona.   They definitely have one of the best views in Sedona!  But what I loved most about this wedding was meeting the couples’ family and friends and seeing just how much they were adored. It was so wonderful to spend a day surrounded by so much joy, love and laughter! Congrats you two!  xoxo ~ Melissa

Sometimes it’s sureal living so close to Sedona.  In 21 short miles from downtown Flagstaff, we can be looking at scenery that every time, blows me away.  If you’ve ever had the chance to visit there, you know what I’m talking about.  And if not, get it on your bucket list.

One of the cool things about Sedona is Oak Creek.  In Flagstaff, we don’t have a lot of water, so it’s a real treat to have a running creek so close to home.  It’s nice to escape there during our warmer months, and be able to stick our toes into the clear, pristine water or fly fish the native trout.  As Sedona Wedding Photographers, Red Rock Crossing is one of our favorite places to shoot.  The grounds are diverse, with trees, tall grasses, and of course the creek.  Depending on the season, the water could be high or low making for unique photos every time.  But, one of the most amazing things, in my opinion, is the breathtaking overlook on the way to Red Rock Crossing.  It’s one that many people drive by all the time with out stopping, and definitely off the beaten path.  If you ever find your way in Sedona, plan on a sunset stop here.

Erik and Alyson joined lives surrounded by blue skies, red rocks and their closest family and friends.  Alyson looked gorgeous in her vintage inspired lace gown and her updo with delicate roses in her hair, and Erik looked very dashing in his bowtie.  The day wasn’t without a glitch (most weddings have them!), and no one even knew that Erik had to borrow his uncles pants just moments before they walked down the aisle.  We loved the sweet Catholic ceremony, and how easily the couple laughed and cried all through it.  As Sedona wedding photographers, one of our favorite venues is Sky Ranch Lodge.  It offers breathtaking views, a gorgous ceremony site over looking red rocks and a desert trail just steps from the ceremony.  It’s definitely one on the short list of places we love to shoot, for obvious reasons.  Congrats Alyson and Erik!  We wish you a lifetime of love and happiness!

Marilla and Mitch are both avid rockcliimbers and wanted to have their ceremony on a beautiful overlook in Sedona where they love to climb.  The couple planned for a small, intimate ceremomy so they could all make the one mile hike up the cliff to the ceremony place.  However, they didn’t think it would snow and ice in Sedona.  The day before the ceremony, the couple tried to ascend the mountain and quickly found out that the ice and snow was going to prohibit that location.  So, they decided on the base of the trail instead, in a lovely meadown near Cockscomb Trailhead.   We think it was the perfect place for them to join their lives together, with panaramic views of the mountains surrounding them.  Congrats Marilla and Mitch!  We are so excited for you both and wish you the best!

Maggie and Eric were married at Tlaquepaque in a picturesque chapel right as the sun went down.  Surrounded by candlelight and their closest friends and family, the couple shared their vows and started their life together.  The celebration continued at Timo, a beautiful wine bar in Sedona where heartfelt speeches filled everyone with laughter and tears.  The next day, we met Maggie and Eric at the Briar Patch Inn for more photos and then we chased down the sunset on Schnebley Hill Road.  It was so wonderful to spend time with such a thoughtful and a sweet couple.  Congratulations Maggie and Eric!

Alie and Nate met in college.  It was a fateful day when the class was grouping into partners for a project.  Nate had already decided that he was going to drop the class, until the teacher said, “Why don’t you be Alie’s partner”.

And from there it’s history.

Nate and Alie dated for three years, and have been married for three years.   They’ve both gone to college and Alie has gotten her master’s degree and recently, Nate decided to join the National Guard.

Alie wanted to surprise Nate with something special when he got home from Basic Training so she called us for a photography session.  It had been since their wedding three years prior since they had their photos taken and she didn’t want to miss another three years.  We decided on the downtown Flagstaff location, for it’s diversity and urban tone.  It worked beautifully with Alie’s colbalt blue skirt and Nate’s dashing dress blues.

It was such a pleasure to spend an afternoon with this sweet, accomplished couple.  And, we are always  honored when the men and women who serve our country come to us for photo sessions.  Thank you for serving our country Nate.

We wish you both many more happy years together!
